South Korea national soccer team captain Son Heung-min is expected to be fit to play against China despite injury concerns.
The South Korean national team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, arrived at Shenzhen Bao’an Airport in Shenzhen, China, on Monday afternoon for their second Group C match of the 2026 North American World Cup Asia Second Qualifying Round against China at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center at 9 p.m. ET.
Having started their World Cup Asia Second Qualifying campaign on a high note with a 5-0 victory over Singapore on June 16, Korea will look to end the year with a win against China in their final A-match of 2023 and carry the momentum into the Asian Cup in January.
One of the biggest questions marks for the South Korean team ahead of the match against China was the fitness of Son Heung-min.
There have been some concerns about Son Heung-min’s fitness leading up to the match. In the last match against Singapore, Son stunned Klinsmann and the fans alike when he went down in pain in the 37th minute after being fouled by an opponent.
A tackle from opposing midfielder Noor Sahiran hit him in the leg and he immediately crumpled to the ground. If it wasn’t a serious injury, he would have gotten back up as soon as possible, but he held his leg for a while and couldn’t get off the ground. The medical staff was called in to take a closer look at his condition.
Heung-min has been dealing with injuries lately, and when he was seen limping, there was even more concern about his physical condition. After playing the full game, Son Heung-min was able to move normally by the end of the match.
Klinsmann also directly addressed the foul in the post-match press conference against Singapore. He said, “I was very angry about the foul at 4-0. It was an inappropriate, unnecessary foul. It was an inappropriate, unnecessary foul, and I was angry in the moment,” he said.
“There are very few matches where the players are 100 percent. You get injured, and it hurts for five minutes. It’s up to the player to play through the pain and manage it,” he said, adding his opinion on injuries. 무지개토토 주소
While the likes of Lee Kang-in, Cho Kyu-sung, and Hwang Hee-chan have raised the spirits of South Korea recently, Son Heung-min’s presence is a different story. He has scored in each of his last two A-League matches, and his goal-scoring touch is at an all-time high. In the Premier League, he has been equally impressive as a frontline striker, scoring eight goals in 12 league games.
