The Cleveland Cavaliers snapped the Golden State Warriors’ winning streak.
The Cavaliers defeated the Warriors 115-104 at home on Saturday night (Nov. 6) to open the 2023-2024 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season at Quicken Loans Mortgage Fieldhouse. With the win, the Cavaliers snapped a 12-game losing streak against Golden State in the regular season and improved to 3-4 on the year, while also snapping the Warriors’ (5-2) five-game winning streak.
Donovan Mitchell led the way for Cleveland with a 31-point, seven-assist performance, including five 3-pointers. Darius Garland (24 points, 7 assists), Max Strasburg (15 points), Evan Mobley (13 points) and Jarrett Allen (12 points) joined Mitchell in double figures. The Toronto Raptors defeated the San Antonio Spurs 123-116 in overtime behind a double-double from Scotty Barnes (30 points, 11 rebounds) at FrostBank Center. The Phoenix Suns won 120-106 on the road against the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena, led by Kevin Durant’s 41 points. Eric Gordon backed up Durant with 21 points and eight assists. Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 26 points.
The Dallas Mavericks won 124-118 at home against the Charlotte Hornets at American Airlines Center, led by Luka Doncic, who had a triple-double of 23 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists, and Kyrie Irving (18 points, 10 rebounds).
