Japan’s 20-year-old pitcher ‘shocked’ to lose complete game, Doosan-Samsung combined team loses 1-6…Kim Min-kyu gives up 5 runs ‘poorly’

A combined Doosan and Samsung team competing in the Japan Education League was thrown a complete game shutout by a 20-year-old Japanese pitcher.

The combined Doosan-Samsung team lost 1-6 against the Yokohama DeNA BayStars on June 26 at Sunmarine Stadium in Miyazaki, Japan.

Park Ji-hoon (shortstop), Kim Min-hyuk (third base), Yang Chan-yeol (designated hitter), Hong Seong-ho (left field), Song Seung-hwan (center field), Kim Mun-soo (left field), Lim Seo-joon (second base), Yoon Jung-bin (right field), and Yoon Jun-ho (catcher) were the starting lineup for the combined team.

Yokohama’s second-year pitcher Genta Kozono (20) threw 106 pitches over nine innings, allowing one run (unearned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts. Kozono, a right-handed pitching prospect who joined SoftBank last year, pitched in three games for the second team in his first year, posting a 0-0 ERA.

This year, he impressed with a 4-1 record and a 2.45 ERA, including a five-inning no-hitter against the Yomiuri Giants in an exhibition game. He also pitched exclusively for the second team this year, going 2-5 with a 4.21 ERA in 16 appearances.

In the top of the first inning, Song Seung-hwan led off with a single to right, but Kim Moon-soo flied out to center field and Lim Seo-joon struck out swinging.

In the bottom of the third, Hong Sung-ho singled to right, but Song Seung-hwan flied out to right field to end the inning.

The fifth inning ended with another triple play. In the sixth, Yoon Jun-ho and Park Ji-hoon walked and Kim Min-hyuk reached on an error by the third baseman. Yang Chan-yeol singled to left to put runners on first and third, and Hong Sung-ho singled to right to score a run.

In the seventh, Oh Hyun-seok led off with a single up the middle, but Lim Seo-joon struck out and Yoon Jung-bin fouled out to first. Yoon Jun-ho grounded out to second base to end the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, Oh Hyun-seok and Lim Seo-joon hit back-to-back singles to load the bases, but Yoon Jung-bin flied out to left field to end the game.

Kim Min-gyu walked the leadoff batter in the first inning and was followed by a single to right to put runners on first and third with no outs. A grounder to the second baseman scored the go-ahead run.

Kim struck out the side in the second and gave up back-to-back singles in the third, but got a fly ball to left field to end the inning.메이저놀이터

Kim gave up another run in the fourth inning. A walk and back-to-back singles put runners on the corners with no outs. He then gave up an RBI triple to put runners on first and third, making the score 5-0. He ended the inning with a strikeout and a grounder to second base.

Park So-joon, who came on after Kim Min-kyu, pitched two innings of one-hit ball with two strikeouts and no walks. Lee Seung-jin pitched one inning of scoreless relief and Baek Seung-woo pitched one inning of scoreless relief with one hit and one walk. Kim Jung-woo pitched the ninth inning, giving up one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout.
