Teammates and fans have organized a surprise for Neymar (31, Alhilal) after he suffered a major and unexpected injury.
“Alhilal’s players and fans showed their support for Neymar,” Sports 433 reported on April 22. Al-Hilal players wore jerseys with Neymar’s name and number 10 on them to send him well wishes. There were even giant banners. In the Al-Hilal stands, a banner with a picture of Neymar and the words “Come back strong” were displayed.
Neymar suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He suffered the injury on Aug. 18 in Uruguay’s South American qualifier for the 2026 North and Central American World Cup. He’s effectively out for the season. The typical recovery time for an ACL tear is one year. Depending on the severity of the injury, it could take longer. He was in a lot of pain after suffering the injury in that game, which led to the worst possible diagnosis.
Neymar has suffered numerous injuries throughout his career, but this one was quite a disappointment. “It’s a very sad and worst moment,” Neymar said on social media shortly after the injury, “I know I’m strong, but this time I’m going to need my friends more. It’s not easy to get injured and undergo surgery, but after four months of recovery, I have to go through the same thing again,” he said.
However, his team, Al Hilal, his teammates and fans organized a touching event to cheer him up. Before the team’s home game against Alkhaleej on Nov. 21, Alhilal players and fans prepared Neymar’s jersey and a large banner to wish him a speedy recovery.굿모닝토토
Neymar, who played alongside the “golden boy” at Paris Saint-Germain (France), joined the Saudi Arabian league last summer. Al-Hilal paid a transfer fee of 90 million euros (about 130 billion won) for Neymar, but also handed him a huge salary. He was promised a two-year contract and a total of $300 million. But just two months into the deal, Neymar was ruled out for the season and the club lost its superstar.
While this may seem like a bummer for Alhilal, they didn’t let it get them down and sent Neymar a message of support. “Neymar has suffered a cruciate ligament tear. His rehabilitation schedule will be determined after surgery. Come back stronger,” the club said.
He’s not the only one. A number of superstars also sent their best wishes to Neymar. South Korea captain Son Heung-min liked Neymar’s post to show his support. Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), a former teammate of Neymar’s at Barcelona, wished him “strength”.
Other supporters included Brazilian legend Kaka, Casemiro (Man Utd), Vinicius Junior, Hodrigo (Real Madrid), Angel Di Maria (Benfica), Marco Verratti (Al Arabi), and Thiago Silva (Chelsea).
