Kim Woo-min (22, Gangwon Province), who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the South Korean team after winning a “triple gold” at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, has won a gold medal at the National Games.
Kim was the first to touch the touch pad in 15:15.75 in the men’s general category 1500m freestyle final on the first day of business at the 104th National Games at the Mokpo Indoor Pool in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, on Thursday.
Kim won the gold medal with a comfortable margin over runner-up Oh Se-beom (15:20.77) and third-place Jang Kyu-sung (15:30.42). He was disappointed to fall short of his national record of 14:54.25 set at last year’s national championships.메이저사이트
Kim became a household name at the Hangzhou Asian Games, winning gold in the men’s 800-meter freestyle relay, 800-meter freestyle, and 400-meter freestyle, and silver in the 1500-meter freestyle.
He became the third Korean swimmer to win three Asian Games titles after Choi Yun-hee (former Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in New Delhi in 1982 and Park Tae-hwan in Doha in 2006 and Guangzhou in 2010.
“After the Asian Games, I struggled in the race because I wasn’t in full physical condition, but I consider it an experience and I will overcome any situation and show good results,” said Kim Woo-min through his management company, All That Sports.
“I want to show the team’s hard work at the national championships with our records and rankings, and we will work harder to win five titles this time,” he added.
