The trusted captain’s fatal mistake… Tigers’ best-of-five scenario: KIA 2 wins, Dusan 4 losses.

The KIA Tigers have been brought to their knees in a ‘one-gun match’ with their top-five fate on the line. With a spot in the top five virtually out of reach, the only thing left for KIA is to win their remaining two games and lose the remaining four games of the Doosan Bears.

KIA lost to Doosan 1-3 in Jamsil on October 13. With the loss, KIA remained in sixth place in the league with 71 wins, two draws, and 69 losses on the season. They are three games behind fifth-place Doosan.

On that day, KIA faced Doosan starter Kwak Bin with the following batting order: Kim Do-young (third base), Ko Jong-wook (designated hitter), Kim Sun-bin (second base), Socrates (right field), Lee Woo-sung (left field), Kim Tae-gun (catcher), Byun Woo-hyuk (first base), Kim Ho-ryung (center field), and Kim Kyu-sung (shortstop). KIA starting pitcher Kim Gun-guk.

The game remained tied at 0-0 until the second inning. However, in the bottom of the third inning, starting pitcher Kim Gun-gook started to falter after two outs. Kim gave up a walk to Heo Kyung-min and a single to Jung Soo-bin, putting runners on first and second.

Kim induced Cho to hit a grounder to the second baseman. Kim made a fatal mistake as he tried to make a diving catch and the ball bounced first into his right hand. The ball bounced away, allowing second baseman Heo Kyung-min to score from second.

With runners on first and third, Kim gave up a two-run double to Rojas to score the decisive run. The KIA bench replaced Kim with Park Jun-pyo after the three runs.

KIA scored its first run in the top of the fourth when Lee Woo-sung hit a sacrifice fly to center field with runners on first and third after back-to-back singles by Kim Sun-bin and Socrates. However, the next batter was stranded at the plate and no further runs were scored.

The KIA bats were stymied by Doosan starter Kwak Bin until the sixth inning. KIA had a chance to score in the top of the eighth inning when Kim Do-young doubled. However, Go Jong-wook and Kim Sun-bin both grounded out to the shortstop to end the threat. In their final at-bat in the top of the ninth inning, KIA was unable to score a run.메이저사이트

With the loss, KIA is now just one game out of a best-of-five series. KIA would have to win both the NC and home two-game series next week and Doosan would have to lose all four of its remaining games. In this case, KIA and Doosan would tie for the final win percentage with 73 wins, 2 draws, and 69 losses on the season.

If there are two tied fifth-place teams with the same final season win percentage, a single-elimination fifth-place game will be held. The KBO’s first-ever one-game fifth-place game could be held on Oct. 18, one day before the first game of the wild-card deciding series on Oct. 19. KIA will have to pin its hopes on one of these unlikely scenarios. Of course, that hope is quickly dashed if Doosan wins even one game in a two-game series against the LG Twins this weekend.
