AC Milan ace Haphaël Leroy turned down a Saudi Arabian offer to play in the European Champions League (UCL).
The Saudis are the main players in this summer’s transfer market. After making a serious European push last winter with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudis have brought in a host of players this summer. Real Madrid ace and 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino are all world-class players. With Neymar heading to Saudi Arabia, it’s a star-studded roster that could rival any of Europe’s big leagues.
Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, said of the Saudi influence, “It’s huge right now. It’s clear that the Saudis are already having an impact on football, and now we have to know how to deal with it. That’s all I can say, and time will sort it out naturally”.
However, there are some players who have rejected the huge lure of Saudi Arabia. Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min, and Kylian Mbappe are among them, along with Lewandowski, De Bruyne, and Alaba.
“Both Lewandowski and De Bruyne have received offers from Saudi clubs this summer, but have turned them down,” said Fabrizio Romano, a highly respected journalist in European soccer. Lewandowski wanted to stay at Barcelona and De Bruyne wanted to stay at Man City. Alaba didn’t consider the option either, only Real Madrid,” he said.
AC Milan ace Leroy Sane is another player who rejected the Saudi offer. The reason is clear. He wanted to play for UCL.
“The Saudi offer? For me, the UCL stage is worth more than a 10 million euro salary. I have no intention of going to Saudi Arabia yet. I’m focused on AC Milan and that’s why I signed a new contract a few months ago.”
True to his word, Leroy recently signed a new contract with AC Milan until 2028. According to Italian transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the buyout clause is reportedly €175 million.바카라
Lemar is a Portuguese forward born in 1999 who can play as both a winger and a striker. He joined Milan from LOSC Lille after coming through the Sporting Lisbon youth ranks and quickly made a name for himself in Serie A last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists on his way to winning the league MVP award. This season, he’s been Milan’s top scorer again, with 13 league goals to his name.
Because of his talent and statistical production, many clubs have been after him, most notably Manchester United, who have been interested in signing him since last season. However, Milan repeatedly showed that they had no intention of letting him go. In the end, the club signed a new contract with Leroy. Leroy will remain with the club until 2028, with a buyout clause of nearly €175 million, effectively declaring him ‘unsaleable’.
