Japan, aiming for AG gold for first time in 13 years, quell India surge to reach quarterfinals…face hosts China for final ticket

Japan quells Indian surge

Japan’s men’s volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17) straight-sets victory over India in the 1-6 decider at the China Textile City Sports Center Gymnasium in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, China on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. local time.

Japan is coming into the Asian Games without key players such as Yuji Nishida and Ran Takahashi to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers, which immediately follow the conclusion of the Asian Games.

Still, the team has been formidable. They won all three of their preliminary matches, upsetting Kazakhstan in the round of 12 before knocking off surging India in the 1-6 match.

Japan had three players score in double figures, including Masahiro Yanagida, and held a 47-25 advantage in attacks, 6-4 in serves and 17-19 in errors.바카라

Meanwhile, South Korea, who lost to Pakistan in the Round of 16, will face Bahrain in the 7th-12th place match at 7 p.m. on Thursday. A loss will send them to the 11th-12th place match, while a win will send them to the 7th-10th place match.
