Kia ace Yang Hyun-jong (35) got a lucky break.
Yang Hyun-jong started the game against LG at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field on Aug. 8 and ran into trouble early. In the top of the first inning, he gave up a leadoff single to Hong Chang-ki, a bunt single to Moon Sung-joo, and a double to right-center field to Kim Hyun-soo.
In the fifth, Oh induced a grounder to second base to get the first out, but Yang Hyun-jong gave up a single to Moon Bo-kyung, a sacrifice fly to Park Dong-won, and a single to Park Hae-min with runners on first and second to give up five runs in the first inning.
After the KIA bats stranded runners at second and third without scoring in the bottom of the first against LG starter Adam Plutko, Yang Hyun-jong was pounded again in the top of the second. After a grounder by Hong Chang-ki was misplayed by the first baseman, Yang gave up back-to-back RBI singles to Moon Sung-joo and Kim Hyun-soo. In the second inning, he gave up a single to Oh Ji-hwan, giving up three runs in the second inning to make it 0-8, but then got Moon Bo-kyung to fly out to center field to end the inning.
KIA batters loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the second inning when Socrates singled against Plutko, but after No. 7 Lee Woo-seong drew back-to-back pitches from Plutko, the game was suspended due to rain.
After being suspended at 7:14 p.m., the game was suspended for 55 minutes to wait for the rain to stop, but the umpires declared a rainout at 8:09 p.m. as the downpour did not stop. The KIA home crowd, which was trailing 0-8, cheered and clapped loudly.
The no-game wiped out Yang’s record of two innings, nine hits, one walk and eight runs (six earned) on 40 pitches.
LG starter Adam Plutko, who hadn’t pitched since July 25 against KT after contracting COVID-19, threw 29 pitches in 1.1 innings, allowing two hits and no runs before the game was canceled.메이저사이트
The game will be rescheduled at a later date. Kia has the most games canceled due to rain among the 10 teams. The no-game was the 16th rainout this season.
On the 9th, KIA’s Lee Yi-ri and LG’s Lee Jung-yong will start.
